Jan Peter Luitjes Joins the Modesta Sales Team

After installing projects all over the Netherlands as a technician for 32 years, Jan Peter Luitjes will now put his many years of experience to use in his new inside sales role. ‘I’m glad Modesta gave me the possibility to switch to a new position.’

Modesta is proud that many of their employees have been part of the team for a long time, but Jan Peter Luitjes takes the cake: he’s been working at the Dutch family business since 1994. ‘After 12 years in the residential construction industry, I came into contact with Modesta thanks to a mutual contact,’ Jan Peter explains. ‘I started right away as an assistant installer.’ During an orientation period which took place on site, he learned everything about Modesta’s product line. After that, he began accompanying a colleague on the road, traveling throughout the Netherlands and Belgium for the installation of projects. As he gained more experience, he advanced from assistant installer to lead installer, and later to installation project manager. He focused primarily on customers in the wood market, but also worked on projects in the agricultural sector. ‘Modesta offers high-quality, reliable equipment, so it’s a great moment when a new project is installed and put into operation for the first time: that’s when technology and expertise come together as one.’

‘I’ve always enjoyed working as a field technician, but it’s quite physically demanding, so because of the physical strain and my age, I wanted to make the switch to an office role,’ Jan Peter explains. Together with Modesta’s HR team, he explored how he could contribute to the company in a different role, ultimately settling on a sales position for the wood-processing industry and agricultural sector. ‘The knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the past 32 years come in very handy here.’ Jan Peter appreciates that the company made it possible for him to transition to a different type of role. ‘Modesta is a family business with a friendly atmosphere, which means there’s a direct and informal communication style. There’s always time and space to discuss anything you want, both business and personal matters.’
