Extracting the impossible

At incinerator bottom ash (IBA) plants, reducing dust emissions is especially challenging because of the nature of the dust, which can be abrasive and moist. Using a central filter will usually not lead to the best results. That’s why Modesta opted for a different kind of solution.

In close cooperation with Blue Phoenix Group, Modesta has developed a localized unit smaller than a square meter that can be used for dust extraction at transfer points. Bigger units placed above shredders and other equipment enhance the dust suppression. The units are cleaned with compressed air and the material is dropped directly back into the process for optimal results.

The innovative Modesta filter will be integrated in Australia’s first IBA plant, which is currently being built for Avertas Energy in Perth.
